The seminar provides a compact overview of the new requirements of MDR and offers advice on how both manufacturers and users can meet these requirements as quickly as possible. Among other things, you will learn as to when software becomes a medical device, how it is classified and how the technical documentation must be structured.

The target group of this seminar is employees of manufacturers of IT solutions for healthcare and hospital IT with advanced specialist knowledge. Participants are requested to bring to the seminar their own device with web browser.

The German clinics are currently experiencing a real paradigm shift in care-related controlling in addition to a worsening shortage of skilled nursing staff. By separating the nursing staff costs from the DRG (Pflegepersonal-Stärkungsgesetz - PpSG), the nursing staff costs have been reduced and the requirements from other legislations (e.g. the Ordinance on the Lower Limits of Nursing Personnel (PpUGV)), there are new requirements for medical controlling.

According to experts, this could lead to a completely new occupational profile, the "care controller". But how can modern, digital tools support the new requirements of the care budget, the performance record, the lower personnel limits and the securing of revenues? What tasks does a care controller have and how can he support care management?

These and many other questions on the subject of "Nursing Intelligence" will be addressed in this DMEA-Seminar. After the seminar participants will be familiar with the current nursing economic challenges and the corresponding digital instruments. In addition, participants can reflect on their own "Nursing Intelligence and Care Controlling" topics at the workshop station and take concrete approaches to solutions with them.

Artificial intelligence in medicine is experiencing at least the third wave of euphoria. In contrast to the previous waves, however, relevant applications and solutions are currently emerging. Some applications have millions of users and studies succeeded to show measurable benefits of AI for patients. The US regulatory authority FDA issues approvals for such systems on a monthly basis.

This seminar provides an insight into the methodological spectrum of AI in medicine, shows exemplarily how AI applications can be integrated into clinical information processing and illustrates the potential unfolded by combining routine data and AI approaches - provided that sufficient data quality can be guaranteed. The seminar focuses on methods and tools that are both conceptually sound and technically mature. And it shows exemplarily the necessary technical conditions and steps for routine integration. The regulatory requirements are mentioned in the seminar, but not addressed in detail.
This seminar is aimed at software managers/developers as well as methodically and technically interested people in AI.

The threat to IT security posed by increasing digitalization cannot be denied and is a reality that is reported almost daily in the media. It is therefore important for all those involved that not only hospitals but also manufacturers guarantee the IT security of their (medical) products.

Mr. Gruetz from Klinikum Wolfsburg reports on the requirements for medical devices from the point of view of information security and discusses essential questions from the operator's point of view based on the industry-specific security standard.

In his lecture "Digital Security in medical devices" Professor Pohl presents the manufacturer's point of view:

  • Requirements of MDR and IVDR for devices, software, firmware and microcode
  • Relevant international standards
  • Standards for the development of secure hardware and software, Best Practice
  • Test and security testing process accompanying development with presentation of the 5 test methods: risk analysis/security requirements, threat modeling of the design, static source code analysis, fuzzing, penetration testing
  • Experiences with the process and effort and success evaluation
  • Examples of such secured systems

and presents the five test methods using concrete examples in the subsequent workshop.

The objective of the training course is to demonstrate the required steps for using FHIR resources appropriately.

First, the course will present the approach for a FHIR compliant representation for a specific problem. This includes mapping of the content and context to FHIR resources, the profiling or extension of resources and an introduction to available tools. Next, the experiences and lessons learned from mapping the basic data set of the "Medizininformatik Initiative (MII)" to FHIR resources will be shared with the participants. Finally, the course will address methods for analysing unstructured document content and its mapping to FHIR resources.

The course is targeted to enable the participants to plan, implement and assess the use of FHIR resources for the representation of medical information. As a prerequisite, it would be desirable that the participants have basic knowledge regarding FHIR.
