18,600 participants, around 800 exhibitors and over 350 speakers: DMEA 2024 has come to a successful end

DMEA 2024 ended yesterday with a significant increase in visitor numbers. For the first time, four federal ministries took part in the DMEA. In his keynote speech, Federal Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach emphasized the outstanding importance of AI for the healthcare sector.

18,600 visitors, around 800 exhibitors and more than 350 speakers from Germany and abroad - DMEA, Europe's leading event for digital health, comes to an end after three successful days. With an increase of 15 percent, DMEA was once again able to significantly increase the number of participants from last year. For the first time, not only the Federal Ministry of Health with Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research with Bettina Stark-Watzinger were represented on the DMEA stages - the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport also helped shape the DMEA program with Dr. Irina Soeffky. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection was represented as an exhibitor at the DMEA by the Digital Hub.

Federal Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach highlighted the opportunities of digitalization for the healthcare sector: "AI will help to detect and predict diseases earlier. We will bring knowledge into healthcare more quickly. And AI makes research better. It will help us understand the language of proteins." Lauterbach addressed this in his keynote speech on the first day of the trade fair.

Melanie Wendling, Managing Director of Bundesverband Gesundheits-IT - bvitg e. V.: "An incredible spirit emanates from the DMEA. The exhibitors show great applications to improve people's healthcare with digital solutions and the visitors have an incredible desire to see what will be possible today and in the future!"

Dirk Hoffmann, Managing Director of Messe Berlin: "This year, DMEA has once again proven why it is the leading event for digital health in Europe - 18,600 visitors, 800 exhibitors and 350 speakers have once again made DMEA the place to be for digital healthcare. We are particularly pleased about the high level of political participation - in addition to DMEA patron Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach from the Federal Ministry of Health, the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Federal Ministry of Economics were also involved for the first time with the Digital Hub. The DMEA is the ideal place to decisively advance digitalization in the healthcare sector."

Innovative solutions wanted - and found

The DMEA nova Award was also presented for the first time on the third day of the trade fair. The startup Exploris Health AG particularly impressed the expert jury with its AI-based multi-marker diagnostics.

As in previous years, the DMEA Young Talent Award was also presented for the best bachelor's and master's theses in the field of digital health. This year's awards went to Julian Hugo from the Hasso Plattner Institute, Simon Koller from Bern University of Applied Sciences and Pia Lehmann from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology.
